Description | Global change has been shown to impact demographic parameters of species and interspecific interactions. Yet, the majority of the studies have focused on single species or simple systems made of few species. However, species are embedded into large ecological communities. Therefore, we need to understand how the impact of global change at the species level scales up and impacts large communities.
We will tackle important questions such as: How the conditions for species coexistence, and therefore biodiversity, will be impacted by the global change (e.g., temperature increase, niches shift, …)? What are the consequences of global change on the functioning of ecological communities (e.g, primary productivity, nutrient flux, …)?
This 3rd cycle seminar will bring together renowned researchers in community ecology, from plant community to aquatic ecology. They will present state-of-heart knowledge on this topic, from both theoretical and experimental angles. Each will give two talks, one as a general introduction and one on their research. The course is aimed at students with a general interest in population, community, and conservation ecology, as well as to system biologists and evolutionary biologists. Participants will also have the opportunity to present their work through posters. |
