The Summer School of 2017 will focus on the economics and the psychology of leadership. With Michael Kosfeld and John Antonakis we have two leading scholars who have both done research on leadership but from very different perspectives. Michael is an economist who uses the tools of experimental and behavioral research to better understand the role of organizations in modern economies. John, in contrast, is an industrial psychologist by training whose expertise is in empirical leadership research in the management domain. This combination of speakers is of particular interest, because literatures on leadership have developed in parallel in economics and management. Recently, the two strands of literature have started to approach each other and this leads to novel insights and research opportunities.

Kandersteg (canton of Bern)

The summer school will start on Monday June 19 (arrival on Sunday evening) and will end on June 23. There will be lectures on four mornings. Three afternoons will be dedicated to group work. During these times, the lecturers will be available for discussion in office hours. The last day of the week will be dedicated to the presentation by each group of the work done during the week.

For students of the CUSO universities (Geneva, Lausanne, Neuchâtel and Fribourg) and from the university of Bern, accommodation and meals will be covered by the CUSO. Travel expenses will be reimbursed based on half-fare train ticket (2^nd class) from the student's university to the place of the activity.

Students coming from universities outside the CUSO network are required to cover their expenses for accommodation, meals and travels themselves.
