Description | Degradation of agricultural soils is known to significantly impact crop productivity around the globe. In agricultural soils, the microbiome associated to plant roots play a key role in regulating plant growth through various mechanisms including the production of phytohormones, facilitating the access to mineral nutrients, or by exerting antagonistic effects against phytopathogens. Currently, high-throughput DNA sequencing approaches are used to analyze the root-associated microbiome of different plant species in order to reveal the taxonomic and functional diversity of microbes involved in plant growth promotion. In addition, the molecular and chemical mechanisms of plant growth promotion are starting to be revealed. In this symposium, world leading experts will present and discuss with PhD the importance of plant beneficial microorganisms and their potential as an alternative to a more sustainable agriculture. |
