Description

Students will have one day visit to KWC Company in Einbeck, Germany.

This activity is part of a series aimed at introducing to CUSO members the various professional avenues available to students in plant molecular biology.
Following a visit at Syngenta (Stein, Switzerland) in 2013, the Agroscope (Changins, Switzerland) in 2014, and at the plant biotech company Keygene (Wageningen, the Netherlands) in 2016, a visit will be organized on November 24, 2017, to the world headquarter of the plant breeding company KWS, located in Einbeck, approximately 1 hour south of Hannover, Germany.
KWS is a major international company that uses traditional and state-of-the-art molecular breeding technologies and biotechnology to supply crop varieties (sugarbeet, corn and cereal seeds as well as rapeseed and sunflowers) with improved yields and resistances to diseases, pests and abiotic stress. KWS is employing numerous researchers with experience in plant molecular biology. A former UNIL postdoc is now working at KWS and will be part of the team welcoming us at KWS.
