Description | This event will explore the rich tradition of the poet's essay with the expert guidance of Prof. Matthew Bevis (Oxford University). Prof. Bevis has published widely, with much of his most recent work focusing on poetry. His expertise will form the basis for an interactive workshop entitled 'The Poet's Essay: Between Poetry and Poetics.' Through various examples from the modern and contemporary periods, this workshop will explore the complex relations between a poet's poetry and his or her essays, questioning the interactions between both genres. This workshop will follow from a lecture on Prof. Bevis' own work with the essay form in the context of the new book he is preparing, On Wonder, for Harvard University Press. |
