Description | This PhD workshop seeks to explore the many forms of contact and exchange taking place in the Atlantic world understood as a fluid site of cultural production (an ideal inscribed into Paul Gilroy's concept of the Black Atlantic). There are countless examples of authors moving back and forth between continents or inhabiting hybrid spaces in-between; of texts, genres and modes of writing that travelled and underwent transformation; of political or aesthetic discourses that were empowered by reciprocal glances across the big pond. This workshop will allow participants to deepen their knowledge of pertinent theoretical frameworks and to gain insight into experts' research on related topic. |
