Description

'Narrative' is a relevant topic across all sub-disciplines of English. This workshop will look at narrative with the help of its rhetorical toolkit as well as the constructions of authorship. Scholars keep discovering new ways to conceptualize the ways in which narrative shapes our experience as readers, invites us to become authors ourselves, or directs authors to find new ways of expressing reality as they perceive it. Two leading narratologists will present their latest research, using it as a platform for discussion with Swiss doctoral students. Following these 'keynote' events, doctoral students will present their theses-in-progress, inviting discussion with our visiting scholars.
