Organisé par Florian Cafiero, cette année et sous la forme de 4 sessions.

Initialement conçu pour l'analyse statistique, R est devenu un outil de référence dans la recherche, en sciences humaines et sociales comme en sciences expérimentales. Grâce à un système de modules ajoutant des fonctionnalités supplémentaires, l'usage de R s'est notamment étendu aux humanités et études numériques: traitement et analyse de données, visualisation, analyse de réseaux, traitement automatique du language naturel, etc.

Le cours abordera plusieurs thématiques dont les points suivants:

• Une introduction au langage de programmation R et à l'environnement RStudio;

• Une introduction au système des notebooks (R Markdown, Bookdown, Jupyter), qui facilite la gestion des données de la recherche, le partage de résultats et la collaboration;

• Une série de sujets pour lesquels R est particulièrement pertinent: traitement, analyse et visualisation de données

PDEN is once again offering an introduction to R for doctoral students in French-speaking Switzerland.

Organized by Florian Cafiero, this year in the form of 4 sessions.

Initially designed for statistical analysis, R has become a reference tool in research, in the humanities and social sciences as well as in the experimental sciences. Thanks to a system of modules adding additional functionalities, the use of R has notably extended to the humanities and digital studies: data processing and analysis, visualization, network analysis, automatic natural language processing, etc.

The course will cover a number of topics, including the following:

- An introduction to the R programming language and the RStudio environment;

- An introduction to the notebook system (R Markdown, Bookdown, Jupyter), which facilitates the management of research data, the sharing of results and collaboration;

- A series of topics for which R is particularly relevant: data processing, analysis and visualization
